Butterfly Series - Part 1 : Green and Black

Earlier in one of my posts (Basics of Camera), I had explained how I was unsuccessful in capturing a picture with my Sony compact camera. I went ahead and purchased a Canon 550D DSLR. I was finally successful in capturing a butterfly in close up. I am enjoying taking pictures of butterflies as it is a challenging task. Butterflies have a specific season in which you can see them in abundance, there are specific places such as ponds where you can see them, there are specific times in the day when they take rest and most importantly they fly away as soon as they notice you. Therefore you need to move without making the slightest noise as close as possible and get your best shot. This will be my first post on series of posts on Butterflies.

This was a nice photo of a butterfly with its wings spread apart. The wings were probably damaged after flying across trees for months.

ISO: 1600
Exposure: 1/200 sec
Aperture: 5.6
Focal Length: 49mm
Flash Used: No

I could have improved the photo with a smaller aperture.

@TG: I wish I knew how to operate photoshop. I find it tough to learn how to use it. But I guess, it is a good practice to avoid post processing. It makes you a better photographer

Im fine RMN. Expected technical blog from u but quite surprised to see the contents. I just started blogging but iam more interested in food photography.

@Priya: Yes, I started this as a technical blog. You can find a lot of technical posts in this blog, including the latest one. I see to that this site is not only about photography. But then photography is a lot technical too. It is something really tough to master.

@Priya: As far as food photography is concerned, that is very difficult. I have made many attempts and none have come successful. I was pleasantly surprised to see how successful you have been in taking pics in your blog. Way to go! Have fun and keep posting
